Summer Trend: Sea And Be Seen

While there are more than a few reasons to love summer (prolonged days, balmy nights, sandal weather... seriously, we could go on for days) the biggest perk in our book is being able to relax and unwind on a trip to the beach.

Which is why it’s only natural that our favorite past-time would help inform our newest seasonal color collection: saturated, multi-dimensional Turquoise Melbourne. Reminiscent of smooth blue-green waves rolling into shore and lazy days spent baking under the sun, one glance will transport you to the tropical island of your dreams… if only for a quick second.

So, whether you’re headed on your next getaway (or are just desperately in need of one), let this bold hue help get you in the vacation mindset. Now all that’s left to do: Bring on the piña coladas.

Happy Lunar New Year!

Today marks the start of the Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year. The holiday is China’s largest (1.4 billion people in China are expected to ring in the New Year today), but countries all over Asia and the rest of the world mark the beginning of the lunar zodiac cycle with festivals, feasts, and parades.

At Brahmin, we’ll be observing the holiday by carrying our favorite moon-shaped silhouettes: the circular Lane crossbody,

and the crescent shaped Sandrine clutch, which is roomy enough to hold your essentials and chic enough to wear on your wrist.

These bestsellers are the season’s must-have looks. They transition seamlessly from day to night—and simply eclipse all others. Not a bad way to start 2018.

Happy New Year!

Spring Trend: Saturated Color

Don’t get us wrong, we love the occasional springtime cliché: breezy florals (“florals for spring? Groundbreaking...”), delicate pastels, a hint of lace or well-placed ruffle. But we also love an original approach to the season, which is why we’re so excited for this new and unexpected trend.

Saturated colors—bright, bold, dimensional, gemlike—breathe fresh life into traditional springtime palettes. “They have a modern and energetic feel,” says Brahmin designer, Natalie Volk. To achieve maximum depth and vibrancy, Brahmin's artisans apply multiple layers of color to every handbag. The result is a dimensional look with a “bold and optimistic vibe,” says our design team.

But don’t just take our word for it.

Here’s our newest saturated shade: Sapphire Melbourne. The deep cobalt hue has built-in versatility. It looks cool with denim, polished with tailored looks, and chic with flirty springtime dresses.

Color us happy.

Wear Red, For The Best Reason.

Not sure about you, but we love seeing red.

Today is National Wear Red Day, the annual event dedicated to raising awareness about cardiovascular disease—the number one killer of women.

First started in 2003 through the joint efforts of the American Heart Association and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, National Wear Red Day is now in its 15th year.

And when it came to getting involved, Brahmin didn’t miss a beat.

We’ve launched an exclusive AHA collection, featuring some of our favorite styles and accessories in heart-inspired hues such as Marquis pink and Carnation red (is your pulse racing already?)

For every product sold from the Brahmin AHA collection from February 1,2018-February 28, 2018, Brahmin will donate 10% of the purchase price to the AHA’s Life Is Why We Give campaign.

So slip into something red, proudly wear your heart on your sleeve (or, your bag), and let’s change the world—one heart at a time.

The Verdict: Everyone Loves the Lane

It’s no secret that we love the Lane crossbody (find us a rooftop, and we’ll start shouting from it). Our infatuation revolves around the bag’s chic, circular shape. And its vintage charm. And its runway feel. Seriously, it’s hard to single out one favorite feature—this is an all-around perfect style, any way you slice it.

And we’re not even saying this because we're biased (fine, maybe we’re a little biased). Some of our favorite trendsetters and tastemakers are also lavishing praise on this must-have look.

Check out what style-savvy bloggers are saying about the Lane, and get instant inspiration on how to wear it. Here, the roundup:

New York-based fashion writer Olivia Trewatha of Olivia Jeanette practically waxes poetic:

"Isn’t it darling? [The] unexpected round shape gives it this great vintage feel."

And see how fashion-writer (and blogger friend) Meagan Brandon of Meagan's Moda manages to seamlessly pair the Lane with two totally different looks:

We're head over heels for the way writer and actress Grasie Mercedes of Style Me Grasie wears her Lane in Ink Melbourne against a bright floral blazer.

And now that we've reintroduced the style in brand new hues for spring, you can really let your imagination fly. Because with the Lane, there are no limits.

Here Comes The Sun

Our latest collection has arrived, bringing with it 175 exciting new styles and hues. In case you haven’t noticed, there’s one prominent theme connecting all these looks and colors (hint: it rhymes with fun).

It’s the sun. You remember, that big, hot, yellow ball that hangs in the sky from time to time? Still doesn’t ring a bell? Stay with us.

To create this season’s collection, our designers took inspiration from a place that's positively sun-drenched: the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech, Morocco. Originally designed by French painter Jacques Majorelle in the 1930s, the sprawling, verdant gardens were eventually purchased and restored by the late fashion icon, Yves Saint Laurent. Now open to the public, the lush acres and historic villa are the most visited sites in Morocco.

And we’ve captured the location in our new spring lineup.

Some examples: Our Sapphire Melbourne hue echoes the saturated cobalt known as "Majorelle Blue," which you can dress up or down in a breeze (think of it as a striking alternative to black).

Other colors in the collection, such as topaz, ivory, and vibrant pink have a languid, sun-warmed quality.

If you’re planning a winter getaway (take us with you), then these looks are sure to reflect your sunny mood. Staying put? Refresh your outfit—and outlook—with a pop of color. And maybe a dose of Vitamin D.

And always remember: it’s sunny somewhere.

Topsail Returns, in Vintage Fashion.

The Mini Schooner & Schooner satchels

The Mini Schooner & Schooner satchels

If you blinked last season, you may have missed the launch of our Topsail collection, which sold out in less than 24 hours. Now, the highly coveted Italian leather is back (and dare we say, better than ever?). For anyone who’s just tuning in, our exclusive Topsail leather is a smooth, vegetable-tanned material with a hand-stained finish. Its rich cognac hue exudes warmth, polish, and plenty of vintage appeal.

To celebrate its return, we’re introducing Topsail in two styles that are already making waves for spring. The Schooner and Mini Schooner satchels have a classic shape inspired by a look taken from our archives—and a namesake with serious ties to the past. “We named the style after our great-great-great-great grandfather Ambrose Bowen Martin’s ship, Raven, which was a schooner,” says Brahmin owner and co-founder, Joan Martin.

But in case you were wondering, Topsail isn’t all about us. The leather’s even finish develops a subtle patina and unique variations over time, so it begins to reflect your one-of-a-kind history as well.

Assuming style and quality float your boat, you’re in luck, because the entire Topsail collection is hand-stitched and stained in-house by our master artisans. For a closer look, we’ve dropped images of a new Schooner coming to life right here at our Massachusetts headquarters. Once you’ve had a peek, get onboard and order your own, because this collection moves like the wind.

Happy shopping—and sailing!

Brahmin on TV

You know what we love to do on a winter evening? Nothing. And by “nothing,” we mean cozying up in front of the television and watching one of our favorite dramas unfold. And because the hibernation gods are particularly kind this time of year, we now have a legitimate, practically professional reason to tune in.

Brahmin is starring in not one, not two, but three of the biggest and buzziest shows of the season. Guys, we’re famous (and props to all you handbag aficionados who spotted us on screen!).

For those of you who missed Brahmin’s repeat cameos because you were busy, doing stuff (to each their own), allow us to recap them for you:

When actress Viola Davis isn’t busy polishing her Oscar, you’ll find her carrying her Brahmin in the hit ABC series, How To Get Away With Murder. Davis plays Annalise Keating, a brilliant law professor and criminal defense attorney who carries a Joan Tote in Black Melbourne in every episode (but who’s counting?)

Ah, Dynasty. The CW’s modern reboot of the 1980s soap has all the intrigue, camp, and conspicuous bling you’d expect from a show that’s all about intrigue, camp, and conspicuous bling. But this time around, we’re not interested in vendettas. We just can’t wait to see which Brahmin handbags will be sharing the spotlight. So far, we’ve spotted Brinley in Sandshell Pachanga, the Anywhere Convertible, and the Business Tote in Pecan Melbourne.

If you haven’t seen or heard of Empire on Fox, then we really admire all the work you do on that wildlife preserve in Antarctica. Seriously, there’s a reason why this epic, star-studded drama (hello Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard!) is entering its fourth run: it’s ridiculously good. This season, Diana Dubois (Phylicia Rashad) carries the Ruby in Toasted Macaroon Melbourne. And our life is complete.

You may have recognized a recurring theme here: all of the styles featured in these shows are sharp, professional-looking pieces carried by major power players. So when someone comments on your binge watching habits this weekend, simply say you’re researching stylish new looks for the office. Works for us!

Capsule Collection

Big news: our Capsule Collection has landed, and you are not going to want to miss out on these exclusive styles. Designed with the most eye-catching leathers and special details, each style is a true showpiece. They were produced in super-limited quantities (think double digits), so hurry up and don't let your favorites slip away. Believe us, there is nothing worse than (non)buyers remorse.

Romance meets edge: bright blooms are the perfect contrast to a deep, moody background.

Who knew multi-colored snakeskin, pink accents, and gold studs made such a stunning combination? (Both hands in the air!)

BOUTIQUE 2018-108.jpg

A graphic ombre in brown and cream makes a chic statement, and hand-applied ink adds an extra element of luxe.

Which is your favorite? Hurry up before it's g-o-n-e for good. See the full collection here.

XO, Brahmin
