The Vault Is Open

Get excited, Brahmin fans – we are opening the doors of the Vault! For a special limited edition collection, we are bringing back a favorite style from our archives, reinvented with artful application and attention to detail. Handcrafted in Massachusetts, this handbag is one of a kind.

For our newest Vault bag, we are bringing back Bag #52, aka the Baby Basic. For those of you who may remember its first rendition in the late 80s, this was one of Joan Martin’s favorite styles that she designed. The 80s are back, and so is this best-selling style.

Back in the 80s, a shoulder bag was the second best seller to the satchel. I had learned by being in the stores that function is as important as style. In making not one but two outside pockets, I could accomplish a double convenience of two with the front one carrying the curb appeal.

At that time we adding a curved band of leather on the top of the front pocket, echoing the two top collars on either side of the zipper. These proved to enhance the croc accent in Tuscan as well as an additional spot to add color in our tricolor. This cured band also sported the decorative brass buttons which often caused folks to call our first tricolor “the button bags”! I added extenders on both ends of the zipper allowing us to offer the zip top with the largest opening.
— Joan Martin

This all-purpose style can be carried as a shoulder bag, crossbody, or large clutch. It is a wardrobe workhorse…spacious (larger than your average crossbody) and great for traveling.

A favorite then, now and always. Own a piece of Brahmin’s heritage with this best-selling style and get yours here before we close the Vault doors.
